Our Teams & People

Churches work by people stepping forward to play their part in the life of God’s family in their local community.  Here is a list of some of the teams that make our life tick.

Our Clergy

Rev'd Peter Godden

Revd Sally Prendergast
Revd Sally Prendergast

Peter has been at St Dunstan’s since July 2021, prior to which he was Vicar of a parish in Enfield, north London. He is married to Caroline, and they have a young son, with two more on the way. Peter likes listening to the Beatles and Oasis, eating curry and drinking whisky, and watching Watford try to get back into the Premier League.

Sally arrived at St Dunstan’s on placement in October 2022, and was licensed as Associate Priest in May 2023. She’s a self-supporting priest, working as a self-employed clerical stole-maker alongside her role in church ministry. She’s married to Patrick, with four adult children between them, and one grandchild. Her spare time is filled with dog walks, karate, crochet, and catching up with friends.

 The PCC

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is made up of elected members of the congregation. Together they are responsible for the financial affairs of the church, the maintenance of its buildings, and assist the clergy in promoting the mission of the church.

The Flower Team

The Flower Team provide floral creations in St Dunstan’s church throughout the year, to enhance the building as a place in which God may be worshipped and glorified. There are usually arrangements in the sanctuary beside the altar, in the Wilberforce Chapel, and in the south porch.

For festivals such as Christmas and Easter, additional arrangements are produced.

Flowers are also offered for special occasions, such as weddings.

For more details, please contact Gwen Miles on 01844 345230, or Jenny Masterton-Smith on 01844 273538.

The Churchyard Team

The churchyard at St Dunstan’s is tended by a dedicated group of volunteers, who mow the lawns, prune hedges, and more.

If you would like to know more, or would like to offer to join the team, please contact the Vicar Peter at revpetergodden@outlook.com.

The Welcome Team

Our Welcomers (also known as Sidespeople) are a team of people who look after everyone who come through the church doors for our Sunday services. They make sure that everyone has got an order of service and a hymn book, help people get seated, and look out for anything else that people might need. If you would like to know more, please contact Mick Quigley on 01844 275483.

Refreshments Team

A big part of our life as a church is getting to know one another. So after our Sunday morning services at St Dunstan’s, tea and coffee are served in the church hall. If you would like to join the team, please contact Caroline Clay on 01844 344591, or Jo Wade on 01844 346321.

Events Committee

Our events committee is a team of people who bring creative ideas and practical experience to help put on all sorts of events, from concerts and cream teas to fairs and quiz nights.
