Easter Vigil
A service of wonder, as our Easter celebrations start.
Our worship begins in quiet and relative darkness, echoing the sadness felt by Jesus’ disciples after His death.
The Easter candle is then lit, symbolising Christ’s rising from the tomb. Gradually, other candles are lit, reminding us that we, too, share Christ’s risen life and share His light with the world.
We then hear readings witnessing to God’s love in creation, and telling of the redemption that only Christ brings.
Finally, we joyfully shout that Christ is risen, and fill the Church with light, music, and sound, and go on to celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter
